US manufacturing grows at fastest pace in six months

 

Both new orders and production figures increased in December

Economic activity in the US manufacturing sector grew at the fastest pace in six months, according to the latest report from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). It is the 29th consecutive month of growth.

The monthly index rose to 53.9 last month from 52.7 in November. Fifty is considered the dividing line between growth and contraction.
