Economic crisis forces Greek yacht owners to sell

Turkish businessmen fly to Greece for cheap luxury yachts

As reported in Turkish newspaper Radikal, in the last month alone more than 300 Turks travelled to Greece to buy luxury yachts at reduced prices.

Greek marinas are full of “for sale” notices on yachts, and most are being offered at discounts of up to 40 per cent.

Greek yacht brokers are expecting an increase in yacht sales after the implementation of austerity regulations in a few months. These regulations may force owners to sell at further reduced prices.

On the plus side, the Greek economic crisis has tempted many Turkish yacht owners to berth their yachts in Greek marinas, as prices are much cheaper there than in Turkey.
