接軌世界 遊艇業明年赴美參展

新任美國在台協會高雄分處長歐介林今天拜會高雄市長陳菊，陳菊說，市府明年2月將組團赴美國邁阿密參加國際遊艇展，促進在地遊艇產業與世界接軌；歐介林則表示歡迎。

甫於7月29日就任的歐介林與高雄淵源頗深，曾任美國在台協會高雄分處經濟組暨領事組組長。陳菊在副市長劉世芳等人陪同，在市府市長室接見歐介林，雙方互贈紀念品，相談甚歡。

陳菊表示，美國在台協會與高雄市一向保持密切往來，未來除繼續維持良好溝通外，也希望能多促進雙方姊妹市交流。

她說，高雄市的姊妹市邁阿密市長芮加拉度（ Tomas Regalado）今年5月間來訪時，曾談及台灣與美國遊艇產業於全球都占有一席之地，盼能進一步合作。

陳菊又說，邁阿密市明年2月將舉辦國際遊艇展，屆時市府團隊將與在地遊艇業界組團赴美參訪，希望藉此增進台美雙方交流。

US sailboat show ends on high

This year’s United States Sailboat Show in Maryland recorded over 50,000 attendees

United States Yacht Shows, organiser of the annual sailboat show in Annapolis, Maryland, has reported that the 42nd version of the sailboat exhibition drew over 50,000 visitors, slightly ahead of 2010’s show. Final tallies are yet to be completed.

This year’s United States Sailboat Show had 200 boats, three dozen catamarans, and nearly 20 premiering boats in water, including a display of antique and classic boats. The show featured daily seminars, and interactive workshop and demos.

“Reports of boat sales, scheduled sea trials, and contract preparations were consistent among the many boat manufacturers represented,” a statement says.

The built-in floating marina is now to host the 40th United States Powerboat Show. Starting tomorrow (Thursday, October 13), the three-day event is to have over 250 powerboats, with many boats being shown for the first time in Annapolis.

This year’s powerboat show in Maryland is reported to have an increased number of larger boats over 18m (60ft). Large numbers of centre console and offshore fishing boats, trawlers and power catamarans will also be on display.

Economic crisis forces Greek yacht owners to sell

Turkish businessmen fly to Greece for cheap luxury yachts

As reported in Turkish newspaper Radikal, in the last month alone more than 300 Turks travelled to Greece to buy luxury yachts at reduced prices.

Greek marinas are full of “for sale” notices on yachts, and most are being offered at discounts of up to 40 per cent.

Greek yacht brokers are expecting an increase in yacht sales after the implementation of austerity regulations in a few months. These regulations may force owners to sell at further reduced prices.

On the plus side, the Greek economic crisis has tempted many Turkish yacht owners to berth their yachts in Greek marinas, as prices are much cheaper there than in Turkey.

Horizon signs second build contract for Chinese market

Taiwanese yard Horizon had won a second new build contract to be delivered within the Chinese market.

The 36m Horizon RP120 will keep the yard busy following the launch of its first superyacht for the Chinese market — a 33m (110ft) motoryacht which was successfully sea-trialed recently in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

"We are seeing tremendous growth in the Asia market," explains CEO, John Lu. "Our yard had seven projects currently under construction for delivery between Japan and Australia, and we are confident China will be another success for Horizon."

Founded in 1987, Horizon builds motoryachts from 14m-50m (46ft-163ft) including catamarans and expedition yachts.

國家地理頻道百年國慶大賞《綻放真台灣》

時值建國百年，國家地理頻道特別推出建國百年大賞《綻放真台灣》系列紀錄片，將於10月10日下午1時起，馬拉松連播10小時不中斷。向來喜歡收看紀錄片的氣質女星張鈞甯，也首度受邀為國家地理頻道拍攝導讀影片，向觀眾推薦4部剛出爐的台灣之美紀錄片。

《綻放真台灣》系列共包括10部臺灣自製紀錄片，其中《臺灣動物之光》、《超級遊艇》、《垃圾寶藏》與《星空搜捕手》等4部紀錄片，將連續從10月10日晚間7點起全球首播，與觀眾一同歡慶建國百年盛宴。

受邀為影片導讀的張鈞甯表示，這4部紀錄片內容與她的人生體驗都有關聯，她說「透過國家地理頻道的黃框框述說的臺灣故事，都是與這個社會息息相關，連我的個人生活體驗也囊括其中。」

特別是《星空搜捕手》一片，記錄臺灣彗星獵人蔡元生在梅峰頂端打造一座私人高山天文台的過程點滴，勾起了張鈞甯觀星的回憶。她表示，從小自己就喜歡看星星，對於世界外頭還有無盡的宇宙充滿好奇，「在山上拍戲時，曾看過完全沒有光害、滿天星斗的夜空，真的相當震撼。」

而喜歡小動物的張鈞甯表示，她個人最期待《臺灣動物之光》的首播，可以看到紀錄了許多臺灣研究人員照顧不同動物的生態過程。當張鈞甯得知臺灣的青斑蝶是全球唯二會遠距離定點漂移的蝴蝶品種，飄移過程不僅需要翻山越嶺，還要能禦擋海風，讓張鈞甯直誇不可思議。

對於《綻放真台灣》團隊長時間透過觀視窗，記錄一般生物難見的生命軌跡，讓張鈞甯深感欽佩。她表示，這片島嶼上蘊藏很多專業人才的努力和熱情，他們讓臺灣的天文學、綠建築與遊艇成為了標榜全球的典範。
